GPT-4 Has Arrived. Are you ready for what’s next??
--
GPT-4, the latest iteration of OpenAI’s groundbreaking language model, is taking the world by storm. This cutting-edge AI tool is pushing the boundaries of what artificial intelligence can achieve in natural language processing (NLP) and human-computer interaction. The ChatGPT series has made professional, informative, and user-friendly AI more accessible, bridging the gap between complex technology and everyday users.
So what’s the big deal with GPT-4?
GPT-4 is pretty damn cool because it can generate outputs using both words and pictures. That’s called being “multimodal.” On the other hand, GPT-3.5 can only use text as input, so it can’t recognize things in pictures like GPT-4 can. Plus, GPT-3.5 can only spit out about 3,000 words at a time, but GPT-4 can go way longer — over 25,000 words!
The latest version of GPT has been absolutely blowing people’s minds! Not only has it shown it can impressively pass the U.S. bar exam, but it’s also got some seriously helpful real-world applications. During OpenAI’s demo, it was shown to help folks with their taxes. Perhaps even more astoundingly, this AI powerhouse can take a simple hand-drawn mock-up for a website and turn it into a fully functioning one! And get this — Be My Eyes, an app that helps out people with visual impairments, is teaming up with GPT-4 to provide a virtual volunteer tool on their app. This is some seriously next-level stuff!
Is it the real deal?
OpenAI has stated that GPT-4 shares similar limitations with its predecessors and is “less capable than humans” in many real-world situations. Inaccurate responses, known as “hallucinations,” have been a recurring challenge for AI models, including GPT-4.
Nonetheless, OpenAI claims that GPT-4 can compete with human propagandists in several domains, especially when combined with a human editor. Last month Tom Bilyeu released a video on How to use AI to get ahead whilst others panic, so be sure to check that out when you start thinking about how you can start using AI. Stay tuned for another video from Tom very soon!
How can I get my hands on it?
GPT-4 isn’t available to the general public just yet, unfortunately. OpenAI is currently working with a single partner to roll out its visual input capabilities, but text input is another story. If you’re keen to give GPT-4’s text input a spin, your best bet is to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus, which will set you back $20 a month. It’s worth noting that there is a user cap with this subscription, though, so you might not always be able to access GPT-4 when you want to.
On the bright side, there is a way to get access to GPT-4’s text input for free — all you need is Bing Chat. Microsoft revealed on the same day that OpenAI unveiled GPT-4 that Bing Chat had actually been running on it for the past five weeks. Bing Chat is free to use, but you’ll need to sign up via a waitlist. So, while you can’t access everything GPT-4 has to offer just yet, there are some ways to get in on the action!
